IET opens its first office in India
The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), the professional engineering society in Europe, has opened its office in Bangalore and has signed an agreement with ARM, India to help increase membership amongst engineers in India.
The IET also plans to organise major international conferences in India on an ongoing basis. The IET has a worldwide membership of more than 150,000.
Speaking on the first day of the International Conference on Managing Technology Innovation in IT, organised by the IET at Bangalore, Paul Jackson, director of Professional Operations, IET, said, "The IET is committed to creating a knowledge network to serve the global engineering and technology community. We operate in 37 countries around the world and have offices in key centres including the USA, London, Hong Kong and Beijing. Bangalore joins that network and will ensure that it plays a central role in the creation and sharing of knowledge."
The keynote was addressed by NR Narayana Murthy, founder, Infosys Technologies and other executive speakers from British Telecom, Microsoft, HP, Wipro, Sasken and Covansys, shared their experiences in managing technological innovation in IT.
