A gaming summit is being organised by IAMAI in Mumbai today.
The Indian gaming market is growing at a dizzying pace. The figures tell the story. The Indian gaming segment — comprising mobile, computer and console games and development — touched Rs 192 crore in 2006, and is likely to cross Rs 1,700 crore by 2010, states Nasscom.
While the movie is slated to hit theaters on December 28, 2007, the mobile game, "Hanuman Returns", is expected to hit stores about two weeks ahead of the film's release.
In a bid to let Indian audiences witness the rise and rise of a very Indian superhero, Jump Games has partnered with the film's makers, Percept Picture Company (PPC), to launch the mobile game, "Hanuman Returns".
And, Microsoft has been roped-in for the Xbox 360- and Xbox Live- versions of the game.

Sony said it will add chat services, Internet telephony and video-to-video communications to its popular PlayStation Portable game unit, an upgrade the Japanese company hopes will transform the PSP into wireless multimedia communications device.
Sony said Wednesday it had struck a four-year deal with British Telecom to provide these and other services on the PSP. The new units are scheduled to be shipped by the end of the year and owners of existing PSPs will eligible to receive an upgrade for these services.

This isn't a new topic; a whole bunch of really sad (read bad) films have already been made on popular games. Some disasters like BloodRayne, Doom, and Double Dragon have already been made and forgotten about, but I see some really good works in the process. According to the company, the iTunes Store now also offers $4.99 downloads of popular video games for fifth generation iPods, including Tetris, Mahjong and Mini Golf from Electronic Arts, Pac-Man from Namco Networks, Cubis 2 from FreshGames, Bejeweled and Zuma from PopCap, and Texas Hold'em and Vortex from Apple itself.
