This isn't a new topic; a whole bunch of really sad (read bad) films have already been made on popular games. Some disasters like BloodRayne, Doom, and Double Dragon have already been made and forgotten about, but I see some really good works in the process. Some really good film makers are going in to Game-to-Movie business, names like Zack Synder( Dawn of the Dead, 300), Jerry Bruckheimer (Remember the Titans, Black Hawk Down, Pirates of the Caribbean, Top Gun, the man's a genius), and Peter Jackson (The best film ever, same once more, and a third time.) But what games are they working on? Well, let s find out.
Metal Gear Solid
In my opinion, it is the best game franchise in the history of gaming, with the most versatile characters, brilliant set-ups, movie-like production values and a great, brilliant, captivating storyline.
MGS was destined to make it big with a movie and with Hideo Kojima, the Legend and a big bank like Sony pictures; MGS the movie is going to rule movies.
Warcraft
Who loves Warcraft? More than 8 million people and growing each day. So what s the most logical move for a product that already has an audience of 8 million? Make a movie based on the same, took me around 10 seconds to figure that out.
With the strong production values of Legendary pictures and a list of characters that can give LOTR( If you don't know what that means, you are a Bum) a complex, we can look forward to a major hit, crossing and grossing all figures known to cinema.
Halo
Although the movie has been postponed indefinitely, I know fans can wait indefinitely. Come on guys we are talking about
The Masterchief and his big screen adventure, we can wait for that. Especially since Peter Jackson himself is part of the production.
Max Payne
The 'Man with nothing to lose' is ready to win you over with his big screen debut.
Although much isn't known about the movie, we know that it will have Max Payne and that's all we need to know. The avenger, the anti hero, the one man army, watching him on the big screen would be a pleasure.
Far Cry
One of the greatest games of all time with a paradise island, missing babe, mutants, and loads of guns; guys, we have Hollywood calling.
But in the hands of Uwe Boll, who has directed disasters like 'Alone in the dark' and 'BloodRayne', I pity the project.
God of War
I won t say a word about this, because if you have played the game, you would know what I am talking about.
God of War is going to rock the big screen with all the special effects and Kratos. Watch out all you superheroes, a God is coming.
Hitman
The Hitman series was always dramatic, intense, gory at times, and very brutal. With a strong central character, very interesting scenarios, and exotic locations, Hitman is a movie already.
We have to wait for some time, but I am sure it will be worth the wait.
Rainbow Six
There may not be a fixed plot to Rainbow Six, but each scenario in the game tells a different story. The team is already to debut on the big screen with a strong leader, namely director, Zack Synder.
If any of you has played Rainbow Six Vegas, you would know how 'Hollywoodish' the game can be, with a glamorous setting and loads of stuff to blow up; I am surprised they didn't make a movie on RS earlier.
Prince of Persia
How many of you out there thought that Prince of Persia should be made into a movie? I did, the day I started playing the game; I said to myself this game needs to be presented to the non-gaming community. Finally under the supervision of Jerry Bruckheimer, the Prince will 'Wall-Run' and save Farah (who ever plays the role, will be a delight to watch.)
POP is one movie I eagerly await, as this movie will prove to the non-gaming community that games aren't as childish as they think.
This was a list of the really big titles that are in the process, while we wait, we hope that these films do justice to their legendary counterparts.
