The Badshah of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan, on Tuesday launched the BAABUL game, an online multiplayer game based on the forthcoming film of the same name, starring Salman Khan, John Abraham, Rani Mukherjee and Hema Milini, besides the Big B. The BAABUL game, created by Gaming Hungama will be available on India’s first free multi user gaming portal www.gaminghungama.com.

Gaming Hungama is providing a completely new and unique platform to Bollywood as such games based on films involve the audiences actively, while also opening new revenue stream for the industry. The Gen X is definitely going ga ga over gaming, and interactive games in which players can themselves become film stars would surely be very exciting for all the fans.”
Mr. Neeraj Roy, MD and CEO, Hungama, said, “We sincerely appreciate the support of Mr. Bachchan, who in his own way encouraged the birth of Gaming Hungama when he launched the online game for the movie Aankhen at the IIFA in 2003. We still remember with pride his words on the launch of the game, where Mr. Bachchan said that it was more difficult to rob the bank in the Online Game then in the actual movie.
With the overwhelming success of Gaming Hungama we are happy to launch the BAABUL game. Gaming is one of the fastest growing avenues on the World Wide Web and is already the in thing among the youth of the country. There is huge potential for Hindi films to explore gaming as a promotional vehicle. Worldwide gaming is an integral part of the entertainment industry and will become a US$ 1 Billion industry in India by 2010”
Noted film Producer Ravi Chopra added, “I have tried my hand at playing the BAABUL game and for the millions of fans of Salman, John, Rani, and Amit ji, it will be an exhilarating experience.
About more than 18 million gamers in the country regularly play casual games online on PC’s at home, institutions and in cybercafés. The number of regular online gamers accessing free gaming sites is more than 24% of the current online youth population - Approximately 7 million plus who play single player games whereas only a fraction currently play multiplayer games and that too only on international sites – interesting twist is that the multiplayer gaming enthusiasts are growing in numbers and hence our new offering “Gaming Hungama” which is India’s first multiplayer gaming portal.
