AOL's AIM mail with Unlimited Storage

It's America Online who has announced it's AIM mail with unlimited storage to the users of their email service. Rediff and Yahoo! were the forerunners who announced umlimited storage. The "AIM" in the name stands for AOL Instant Messenger, AOL's instant messaging program.

AIM Mail has a good stellar spam protection with solid security features. It has a rich interface which makes AIM mail very easy to use and also integrated with calendar and chat.

Free software bypasses e-mail size limits

Got big files to send? Pando manages transfer of attachments

There's a new way to send large movie, music and other files without worrying about whether the e-mail systems can handle large attachments.

Free software from Pando Networks Inc. automatically converts your attachments into a small file that your friend or relative can simply open to download the original file from Pando or elsewhere. Beginning Tuesday, Pando is offering plug-ins to work with most Web-based mail services.

Yahoo Lets Outsiders Get Inside Its Email

Yahoo is adopting a strategy that it should have tried much earlier, turning its mail service into a platform upon which others can develop new applications. So, a third party could develop a new display for the email, build new features for it, or combine it with other applications. This makes sense for multiple reasons. Yahoo doesn't know exactly what will be a hit with consumers; it could put a lot of effort into one new system, only to see it be a dud. And by opening it up, it makes web mail more like regular email, which people can access using a variety of programs and services.

Review of the New Rediffmail

Intrigued by the relentless campaign of RediffMail v/s Hoohah
commercials on various TV channels last month, I decided to take some time out and
give Rediffmail a try and experience the promised lightning mail.

I wasn't disappointed as upon login, it straight away jumps into an Outlook style three pane view
of folders, Messages and Preview, and on clicking on the message instantly shows the preview , the clever use of Ajax is impressive, and gives a first good quick impression.

Get rid of Spams

Spamcop.net is a very good site for fighting ever growing menace of Spams.

They have 4 services:

1. Reporting Spams - You can report spams sent to you and they contact server admins, ISPs where spams are originating and in somecases responsible ISPs block spams, so it helps blocking spams at source.

2. FREE BLOCKING LIST - They provide a DNS-based Blocking List which ISPs can use with their mailserver and get safe and effective spam filtering for free.

The logic behind gmail

If there was one identifier in your life you would not change, what would it be?

My mom would say, her phone number. I would say, my email address.

email is one of the most important first-mover based businesses, and gmail has come into this market and effectively grabbed a powerful market share in its beta stage itself. How did this happen? How did they make such a first mover based business into their domain? After spending many sleepless nights on this, I have a logic!

First, they came out with a great product. Gmail was nothing like ever seen before. A 1 GB inbox, Ajax based pages which ensured quicker loading, convenient address book and retreival, and so on. This is always the first step for a company that wants to take over a market. Make a great product!
