Trying to make Yahoo! Mail more interactive, give users a social experience and stay with the people they care about most, Yahoo plans to integrate with Facebook and Twitterby 2010 end.
Bryan Lamkin, Senior Vice President, Consumer Products at Yahoo said, "With the integration of Yahoo and Facebbok, we can enable users to share meaningful content with their friends." Yahoo!'s Facebook Connect integration will give consumers richer experiences on Yahoo!, including in Yahoo! Mail and on properties like Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Sports, and Yahoo! Finance.

The year 2009 saw the ugliest face of slowdown -- layoffs. Yahoo offices to close down for a week

In an attempt to find new ways to cut costs during the slowdown, Yahoo has announced that it will shut down all its offices, except for "essential functions" like customer support, from December 25 through January 1. This is the company's first compulsory global closure, though in the past it has encouraged its employees in the U.S.

Microsoft may accelerate up to $150 million in reimbursements due Yahoo if their proposed Internet search partnership is approved by regulators.The new timetable disclosed on Thursday was among the minor changes that Microsoft and Yahoo made to an agreement reached in July. The companies signed the final contract last week.Yahoo may now collect the entire $150 million by June 30 next year if it's working with Microsoft by then.

Microsoft chief executive Steve Ballmer said on Thursday the company could look to extend its search engine partnership with Yahoo outside the United States, if it gets regulatory approval. Earlier this year Microsoft and Yahoo signed a 10-year Web search partnership to challenge Google, a pact that US and European antitrust regulators are evaluating.“It’s possible that we will extend that partnership (with Yahoo) outside the US,” Ballmer told reporters at a news conference.
