Essence of the Session : Topic :
Its said that its a bitter-sweet moment for an entrepreneur when he realizes that he needs to scale up. For a while he can feel proud that the business is ready to take off, there is tremendous anxiety about the accompanying change. The burgeoning customer base can no longer be serviced without bringing in new unfamiliar hands. Failure to scale up would most likely otherwise lead to compromising quality. Systems need to be put in place to combat the chaos that reigns as the business begins to burst out of the confines of the basement or a garage where it all began.

Software projects are notorious for their uncertainties. Requirements continue to change. Maintenance of applications becomes extremely difficult particularly with tough SLA. Often the maintainability of applications is unknown in the beginning. Attrition poses a serious threat. Surprise defects
are detected late in the project. Schedules are often difficult to meet. And resources with adequate skill is perennially in short supply.
Fortunately most of these problems can be dealt with through judicious application of quantitative techniques and principles of software engineering. In this session some of these techniques applied successfully in real life will be discussed. In particular concepts of design and code
quality and their usage to minimize the impact of requirement changes as well as high schedule pressure will be talked about. Techniques to detect risky parts of software will be touched upon so that testing can be more effective. Techniques to modularize software so as to minimize attrition / skill risk will be covered. Simple quantitative techniques to understand implication of SLA as well as allocation of resources in maintenance / production support scenario will be discussed. Finally some of the major pitfalls of the current system of project management and reporting will be pointed out.
Business Managers, Project Managers and quality professionals will tremendously benefit from this talk.

Essence of the Session Topic :
NETWORKING, they say, is a non-starter if you start with the end in mind. This is even truer, when one thinks of networking in the business context. For, business networking is not merely about exchanging cards and a few laughs over dinner, it’s about looking for ways to help each other grow symbiotically. It’s a process, which helps build relationships and develop support systems for both the entrepreneur and his business. Any successful entrepreneur will tell you that a network of contacts can add value only if you know how to add value to each one of them.
This month’s session would would be focused on an extremely important & a critical aspect of an Enterprise & an individual - “The Art of Networking”!
Speakers :
Nina Lekhi, Founder & Entrepreneur behind "Baggit Bags"
Anjali Bansal, Head - Spencer Stuart's India operations
Mahesh Murthy, Director - Pinstorm Technololgies & Director, Seed Fund
