Many mobile phones in the market have come out with large storage capacity allowing users to store a lot of data including movies. But now Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL), which is a state owned telecom service, has launched its mobile TV service in India. This service is initially available on experimental basis in the Indian cities of Mumbai and Delhi.
On a trial basis MTNL is offering seven channels which will be free of cost to subscribers of unlimited plans with MTNL. This service can initially be used by users who have GPRS-enabled handsets until its official launch.
A.K Arora, Executive Director of MTNL, has explained that this service is on experimental basis to the first 500 customers having unlimited plan of Rs.349 per month.
This service can be used by those users who have GPRS handsets and those phones which support Symbian operating system with a minimum phone memory of 2MB and those which have the real player application.
This service by MTNL is expected to launch officially in the market by April, 2008.
